About
Paul Moran
Paul is a Bay Area native, growing up in Redwood City. He played club soccer for various local club teams, high school at Bellarmine College Prep and also captaining both the NorCal State and Region IV ODP programs for four years. Paul is extremely proud that his senior year team was inducted into the Bellarmine Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. Paul went on to play college soccer at Santa Clara University, Fresno State and Fresno Pacific where he was also team captain and named All-Conference twice. Paul played a few years semi-professionally before signing his first professional contract to play for the Montreal Impact, and later played for the Minnesota Thunder and United FC. After his playing career ended, he moved back to the Bay Area and began coaching. He has coached at Alpine Strikers for over a decade, including coaching the high achieving Alpine Strikers 99B team, which won numerous tournaments and showcases and finished their U19 season ranked top 10 nationally.
Paul’s favorite soccer experience was a combination of 2 moments: 1. Winning the prestigious Dallas Cup at the U19 level with teammates and friends, who he still plays soccer with today in local men’s leagues. This was the most fun time in his soccer playing experience ever. 2. One of his first professional matches with his Minnesota Thunder team, where he played in front of a sold out crowd of approximately 15,000 fans. The match was also televised on Fox Sports and his parents and family were able to watch it on tv back home.
Paul has previously coached many of our older boys programs at Strikers. Paul loves seeing players improve through hard work and a true love for the game and respect for teammates. Most importantly , however, Paul loves seeing players develop real life skills through a team sport, alongside personal growth, maturity and enjoyment!
Paul’s favorite all-time player is the great, retired, defender and captain for AC Milan and the Italian National Team, Paolo Maldini. Paul is an avid Tottenham Hotspur supporter, through the good times and the bad, and he loves watching their matches live on the weekends. Harry Kane is his favorite current player due to his work ethic, professionalism, and team loyalty (and of course his ability to create goals!).
